仕事内容
The Data Center Technician role at NTT DATA in Tokyo involves supporting the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and cabling. Our responsibilities include physically installing and upgrading hardware, conducting routine hardware inspections, and assisting with equipment upgrades or replacements under supervision. We monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and airflow, diligently reporting any anomalies to senior staff members. Integral to the role is the documentation of infrastructure layouts, changes, and maintenance records. We provide physical support for system reboots, hardware swaps, and network patching.
The position demands flexibility, requiring participation in shift rotations to support 24/7 operations, inclusive of weekend and after-hours coverage when necessary. Safety, security, and operational protocols are to be strictly adhered to, including access control and incident response procedures. Collaborating with experienced team members is crucial, particularly on infrastructure projects, where we gain valuable exposure to troubleshooting and performance optimization tasks. Understanding and observing the Change Management Process is key, enabling us to review and coordinate planned changes effectively.
Coordination with external IT teams and IT system administrators or support vendors is part of our routine to ensure seamless data center support activities. The role requires candidates to have 6 months to 2 years of experience in data center support and a basic understanding of data center components, such as servers, storage, networks, and cabling (UTP, Fiber). Being stationed at a site providing 24/7 coverage is an essential aspect of this position.
