We are looking for a highly driven, technically deep, and customer-obsessed technical account manager to serve as the trusted technical advisor to leading Japanese automotive manufacturers including Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, and Subaru.

Based in Tokyo, you will be the on-the-ground technical leader for Japan, working closely with the global Amazon Smart Vehicles team to design, architect, and deliver voice AI solutions for Japanese automotive manufacturers. You'll be at the forefront of translating innovative genAI voice experiences into production-ready architectures for Japan's leading OEMs, helping them accelerate their technological capabilities and digital transformations through hands-on technical engagement.

Key job responsibilities
• Serve as the primary technical advisor and solutions architect for Japanese automotive OEMs including Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, and other key manufacturers
• Design and present end-to-end solution architectures for in-cabin voice AI, integrating Amazon's genAI capabilities with OEM-specific vehicle platforms, infotainment systems, and cloud infrastructure
• Build and maintain deep technical relationships with Japanese OEM engineering leaders, chief architects, and platform teams, navigating complex organizational structures and cultural nuances
• Lead technical deep-dives, proof-of-concept engagements, and architecture workshops with OEM engineering teams to validate solution fit and accelerate adoption
• Partner with business development to support deal progression by providing technical credibility, solution scoping, and architecture proposals during complex commercial negotiations
• Develop and deliver technical presentations, demos, and reference architectures tailored to Japanese OEM requirements, including edge vs. cloud deployment trade-offs and EdgeLite positioning
• Provide regular technical status updates and integration progress reports in English to global leadership, leveraging AI tools for Japanese-to-English communication as needed
• Navigate Japanese automotive engineering processes and technical evaluation frameworks, understanding system integration requirements, validation criteria, and homologation standards
• Work closely with internal stakeholders (AWS Solutions Architecture, Product Engineering, Partner Engineering) and global Amazon Smart Vehicles team to coordinate technical strategies and integration roadmaps
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and platform teams to translate customer technical requirements into product feature requests and influence roadmap priorities
• Evaluate and address technical objections, competitive positioning, and integration challenges specific to the Japanese automotive market
• Represent Amazon Smart Vehicles at Japanese automotive technology conferences, developer events, and customer technical reviews
• Provide technical market intelligence and competitive architecture insights from the Japanese automotive sector to inform global product and engineering strategy

A day in the life
You'll be driving technical engagement activities on the ground in Tokyo — leading architecture workshops with OEM engineering teams, conducting solution deep-dives, building proof-of-concepts, and advancing multiple concurrent integration efforts. Your day involves navigating Japanese engineering culture, managing complex technical stakeholder relationships, designing solutions that bridge Amazon's genAI voice platform with diverse vehicle architectures, and keeping global engineering and leadership teams informed of technical progress in English. You'll balance hands-on technical execution (writing architecture documents, building demos, troubleshooting integrations) with strategic thinking about how Amazon's technology stack best fits Japan's automotive platform landscape.

- Speak, write, and read fluently in Japanese
- 6+ years of solving problems with technology in the Automotive & Manufacturing industries experience
- Experience architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc.
- Experience in technical support, or experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Experience conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences
- 10+ years of experience in the automotive industry with focus on infotainment systems, embedded software, voice/AI integration, or technical solutions architecture
- Track record of leading technical evaluations and proof-of-concept engagements in competitive environments with long validation cycles typical of automotive industry
- Experience designing integration architectures for automotive platforms; understanding of Japanese automotive technical evaluation and supplier qualification processes
- Deep technical knowledge of automotive software stacks and platforms (Android Automotive, QNX, Linux), hardware platforms (Qualcomm, Nvidia, Renesas SOCs), genAI/LLM architectures, speech-to-speech pipelines, and edge computing deployment in automotive environments

- Experience working with automotive Tier 1 suppliers (Denso, Aisin, Continental, Bosch, Harman, Alps Alpine) on system integration or platform development
- Deep understanding of competitive technical landscape in automotive voice AI and infotainment, particularly in Japanese market (Cerence, Google Automotive Services, Apple CarPlay architectures)
- Experience with Japanese OEM engineering organizations and technical decision-making processes at Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, or similar manufacturers
- Hands-on experience with voice AI/NLU/ASR systems, conversational AI frameworks, or large language model deployment in resource-constrained environments
- Knowledge of automotive middleware, AUTOSAR, vehicle APIs, and connected vehicle cloud architectures
- Understanding of Japanese automotive industry technical standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., driver distraction guidelines), and platform certification processes
- Existing technical relationships with engineering leaders at Japanese automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
- Experience coordinating across global and regional engineering teams in matrix organizations
